Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and Two Cores Operations Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, for your use of BoardBrief at deckbrief.com. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you are using BoardBrief on behalf of a company, you confirm you have authority to accept these terms for that company.

1. The service

BoardBrief turns the company information you provide (metrics such as MRR, ARR, burn, runway, headcount, customers, churn, and NRR, plus notes on highlights, challenges, and asks) into a formatted investor or board update. AI drafts the narrative sections, you review and adjust the result, and you export it as a PDF. Saved updates are available in your dashboard, subject to your plan's limits.

We are constantly improving BoardBrief, so features may change over time. We will not materially reduce the core functionality of a paid plan during a period you have already paid for.

2. Your account

You sign in with a magic link sent to your email address, so keeping that email account secure is essential. You are responsible for all activity under your BoardBrief account and for making sure the information you give us is accurate and kept up to date.

You must be at least 18 to use BoardBrief. Tell us straight away through the contact page if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.

3. Plans, trials, and billing

  • Free plan. Includes a limited number of updates per month, exports that carry BoardBrief branding, and limited update history, as described on our pricing section. We may adjust free plan limits from time to time.
  • Paid plans. Pro and Team are monthly subscriptions. Current prices are shown on the site and confirmed at checkout before you pay. Payments are processed by Stripe.
  • Trials. Where we offer a free trial, its length is shown at signup and no card is required to start. If you do not subscribe by the end of the trial, your account continues on free plan limits.
  • Renewal and cancellation. Subscriptions renew automatically each month until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your billing settings; you keep access to paid features until the end of the period you have paid for. Except where the law requires otherwise, payments already made are not refunded for partial periods.
  • Price changes. We may change prices with reasonable advance notice. Changes take effect from your next billing period, and you can cancel before they apply.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the service for anything unlawful, or submit content that is unlawful or that infringes anyone's rights;
  • submit content you do not have the right to use;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service, other users' data, or our systems;
  • interfere with the operation of the service, including overloading it or circumventing usage limits;
  • copy, resell, or offer the service to third parties as your own, or reverse engineer it except where the law allows;
  • use automated tools to scrape the service or generate updates at abusive volume.

5. Your content and confidentiality

You keep all rights to the content you submit and to the briefs generated from it. You grant us a limited licence to host and process that content solely to provide the service to you, including sending it to our AI provider (Anthropic) to draft your narrative.

We understand that board metrics and notes are commercially sensitive. We treat the content you submit as confidential: we do not publish it, share it with other customers, use it for marketing, or use it to train AI models, and we disclose it only to the service providers needed to run BoardBrief or where the law requires. More detail is in our privacy policy.

6. AI-generated output

BoardBrief drafts narrative from the data you supply using AI. Like any AI output, it can contain errors, omissions, or phrasing you would not choose yourself. Generated briefs are provided for information only and are not financial, legal, accounting, or investment advice.

You are responsible for reviewing and approving every brief before you share it with your board, investors, or anyone else, and for the accuracy of the underlying numbers you enter. What you send to your investors is your communication, not ours.

7. Our intellectual property

The BoardBrief service, including its software, design, templates, and branding, belongs to us or our licensors. These terms give you the right to use the service; they do not transfer any ownership in it. Feedback you send us may be used to improve the product without obligation to you.

8. Availability

We work to keep BoardBrief available and fast, but we provide it on an "as is" and "as available" basis and do not guarantee uninterrupted or error free operation. We may suspend the service temporarily for maintenance or to protect its security. We recommend keeping your own copies of exported briefs.

9. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the law of England and Wales, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profits, loss of revenue, loss of business opportunity, or loss of data arising from your use of the service, including decisions made by you, your board, or your investors in reliance on a generated brief.

Our total liability to you for all claims arising out of or in connection with the service is capped at the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

10. Termination

You can stop using BoardBrief at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account through the contact page. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these terms, if your use creates risk or legal exposure for us, or if we discontinue the service (in which case we will give you reasonable notice).

On termination your right to use the service ends and access to saved updates ends with it, so export anything you want to keep first. Sections of these terms that by their nature should survive (including confidentiality, intellectual property, and liability) survive termination.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will always be on this page with the date at the top. For material changes we will take reasonable steps to notify you, for example by email or a notice on the site. Continuing to use BoardBrief after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them or from your use of the service. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
